East Hyderabad grows along two highways: the Warangal highway (NH-163) through Uppal and Ghatkesar, and the Vijayawada highway through LB Nagar and Hayathnagar. Both are waiting for big infrastructure to finish.
At a glance
| Uppal–Narapally | 6.2 km elevated corridor on the Warangal highway, started 2017–18. Deadlines have slipped repeatedly; in September 2026 the Roads & Buildings minister set a new target of June 2027 |
| LB Nagar–Hayathnagar | 7.1 km metro extension on the Vijayawada highway, approved in October 2026 as part of Metro Phase 2 (target 2029) |
| Status | Flyover under construction (delayed) · metro approved |
|---|
Why the flyover is late
The first contractor went to the National Company Law Tribunal, and a second agency also fell behind. The State brought in Gayatri Projects to restart work, which now runs round the clock.
What it means if you are buying here
- Price today’s commute, not the one promised for 2027 or 2029.
- Shops and homes on the highway can face access and dust for years during construction.
- Further east, the Regional Ring Road’s northern part ends at Choutuppal on the Vijayawada highway. See RRR status.
